Mission

The mission of the Partnership for Prince George's County is to strengthen and advocate for community-based nonprofits working to address the needs of traditionally underserved residents in Prince George's County.

Vision

Prince George's County has a strong nonprofit sector that contributes to thriving communities and has vital voices for ensuring equitable policies and systems for all county residents.

Theory of Change

Nonprofits must be effective organizations (i.e., having a strong leadership, governance, and management infrastructure), and must possess the necessary skills to partner with funders, community residents and policymakers to be effective agents for social change. The Partnership works to strengthen nonprofit organizations by:

  • Providing organizational capacity building support (i.e., Board Development; Strategic Planning; Fiscal Management; Communications; Fundraising; Human Resource Management and Development; and Advocacy) through technical assistance, funding, and learning opportunities
  • Providing convening opportunities for nonprofit leaders to learn new skills and network with each other, grantmakers and policymakers
  • Providing advocacy capacity building support (i.e. Lobbying; Community Organizing; Coalition-building; Engaging Residents; Engaging policymakers and elected officials; Community needs-assessment) towards systemic/policy changes
  • Encouraging regional and national foundations and other donors to invest in Prince George's County nonprofits and advocating directly for program and capacity-building funding for nonprofits
  • Communicating directly with funders, policymakers and others to help them better understand the importance of and needs of nonprofit organizations in Prince George's County
  • Assessing the state of the region and ensuring that the grantmaking reflects the needs of the community in the current climate.
